Maybe Jesus was the first vampire, he rose from the dead too and he told people "Hey yall, drink my blood, it'll give you special powers"

There is no greater connection between religion and the series TrueBlood than in the series' portrayal of the Fellowship of the Sun. The Fellowship of the Sun is a church run by Reverend Steve Newlin and his wife, Sarah Newlin. This church is different from most. It's sole purpose is to kill vampires and vampire lovers. One character that is directly affected by vampires in the series is Jason Stackhouse. Jason became interested in the church after going through a rough period in his life. His girlfriend was just killed by his best friend, and even more people were dying around him, most at the hand of vampires. The "Church" owns a training program called the "Light of Day Institute" that you can join for a small fee of $1200.00! Most churches would never ask for such a payment which makes me thing the church was more of a money maker then a place of worship. Steve and Sarah are also known vampire haters. They use the young men in the training program to kill vampires instead of doing it themselves. Jason asks God for a sign that he should join the church and Sookie shows up with an inheritance of $1200. Very coincidental, but Jason takes this is a sign and happily joins the training program.
The church group is determined to rid the world of all vampires in a very militaristic, hypocritical way. I feel the "church" is more of a cover-up for what's really happening. The reason the church hates vampires so much is because they drink humans blood. With coexistence on the rise, a lot of vampires drink TrueBlood, never touching humans. The church is killing vampires because vampires kill humans. The hypocrisy astounds me. As for militaristic, the training in the institute consists of drills very similar to what you would see in the army. The Fellowship of the Sun references God and the bible often, but more so to justify the actions of the church. Unlike most churches who worship God and a Bible for selfless reasons.
Jason realizes this church might not be for him when Steve and Sarah ask him to build a cross so the congregation can watch a vampire meet the sun and die. Jason, although he is hurt by vampires, realizes that this ritual is not okay. Ironically, Steve Newlin becomes a vampire and says he thinks god loves all his creatures. ha !
